Rated R for strong bloody violence & language throughout

I was really looking forward to seeing this movie. I mean, REALLY looking forward to seeing it! I know that sounds weird because, if you've heard anything about it, it's controversial. The original release date was sometime last year but it was postponed because of 2 mass shootings. Yes, people get shot in this movie. Lots of people. It's called The Hunt for a reason. So why was I looking forward to seeing it? 1) It's a movie. 2) I like Hilary Swank as an actress. and 3) I had to see what all the controversy was about, of course!

The Hunt is gory so if you have a weak stomach this is not the film for you. I'll just say it now & get it over with. This is a movie about hunting people & that's what you see. People being hunted. There is a group that wakes up in a field, no idea how they got there or why they're where they are. They are given an arsenal of weapons to defend themselves with but immediately, they start getting picked off. Guns, knives, grenades, arrows...all kinds of ways to die people & we see em'. Plenty more ways I didn't even mention so if you have any issues with that, skip it. If you don't, keep reading.

There is never a dull moment which I love! One thing I can't stand, even for a millisecond, is being bored during a movie. That didn't happen here, not even once. A few times, I was literally on the edge of my seat. The Hunt moves fast & keeps you wondering what's going on. Where are they? (You THINK you know, you don't) Who is going to "get it" next? How will they go? Where will it come from? So much to figure out & the movie is only 90 minutes long.

Now, the trailer. Watch it. You know how a lot of movies take their absolute best stuff & put it in the trailer then you go to the movie & none of those scenes are in the movie? I hate that! No worries here. All that good stuff in the trailer is in the movie & that's not even the tip of the iceberg. There is so much good underneath you'll be wondering if there will be a sequel. Will there be a sequel? I'd go see one!

The Hunt is described as an action, horror, thriller movie. Action, yeah. I'll definitely agree. Horror? Not in my opinion. Thriller? Yeah, ok I'll give them that. My personal description would be a dark comedy, action movie with political undertones.

My takeaway from The Hunt. Be careful what you say & who you say it to. Words are easily twisted & manipulated into what someone else wants them to be to suit their situation. Once it's out of your mouth, it's too late. The Hunt has already begun.

The Hunt lands in theatres Friday, March 13th. Please, let me know what you think of it or, at the very least, what you think of the trailer if you can't stomach the movie. Also, be sure to subscribe to my blog. You never know what I'll review next!
